About the Role
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the development of the DigitalZone Super App. You will manage a cross-functional engineering team, own the technical delivery roadmap, and work closely with the Product Team to bring high-quality features to production. This is a role for a technical leader who can balance hands-on guidance with people management and system thinking at scale.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage a team of software engineers
- Own technical delivery — scoping, sprint planning, risk management, and on-time execution of product features.
- Set and uphold engineering standards: code quality, architecture patterns, testing, and security best practices.
- Work closely with the Product Manager to break down product requirements into clear engineering tasks.
- Drive system design decisions and technical architecture for the super app platform.
- Build and scale a high-performing engineering team — hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management.
- Establish and monitor engineering KPIs including deployment frequency, incident response time, and system uptime.
- Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and psychological safety within the team.
- Collaborate with DevOps and Security to ensure CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure, and compliance standards are met.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of software engineering experience with at least 2 years in an engineering management.
- Proven experience delivering consumer-facing mobile or web apps at scale.
- Strong technical background in NodeJs, .
- Experience managing end-to-end delivery across product squads in an agile environment.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills — comfortable influencing without authority and aligning stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and modern DevOps practices.
- Strong understanding of payment systems, API integrations, and third-party service orchestration is a plus.
Nice To Have
- Experience leading engineering at a startup or scale-up in the MENA region.
- Background in fintech, super apps, or multi-product platform development.
- Familiarity with security practices relevant to payment processing and PII handling.
